how one chair got it’s groove back
or, The Circle of Life on Craigslist….
So I bought these chairs from some guy on Craigslist and paid next to nothing.
I hated them… and they hated themselves. I could tell.

"I hate myself" said the chair.
See, they were really super-dirty and gross. My guess is that they were light cream back in their hey- day but by the time I bought them, they were suffering from really bad low self-esteem.

"I used to be pretty" cried the chair.
So I took one of them apart to see what I could see. I think the chair was embarrassed because it was blushing.

"I'm so embarrassed!"
I decided to change the legs of these chairs because I love dark wood best.
First, I bought some of this:

$5.00 stain
Then, I had the paint doctor at Lowe’s tint it a dark brown color. Then, I came home & got busy sanding the legs. It took forever because they were already stained this light color. Stain is a pain.
The chair was extremely grateful for the leg- makeover.

"I'm extremely grateful" said the chair.
Then I bought the fabric I wasn’t supposed to buy at JoAnn’s and I recovered the poor, old chair.
The chair was so thankful it decided to pose for photos.

vogue, vogue, vogue...

"I'm too sexy for your party, no way I'm disco dancing"

"shake your groove thang, yeah yeah.."
Needless to say, this chair loves me.
And I love the chair.
And we’ll live happily ever after.
forever…
or at least until I get the other three chairs done, and sell them to the highest bidder on Craigslist.

Patti, you’re awesome! I knew it all along.
